It feels pretty crappy constantly switching from one therapist to another. It feels even worse not knowing whether or not you’re actually receiving quality treatment. At RiverWise, we will put an end to this. When beginning treatment, I will show you the roadmap that will allow us to achieve your goals together. I will orient you to the specific interventions we will utilize and I will clearly explain what tools we will be using that allow us to track progress in your therapy.

Skills

  • Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the intentional act of awakening and staying grounded in the present moment, non-judgmentally, and without attachment. We utilize mindfulness to increase control of our thoughts, as well as, develop a deeper awareness into how our thoughts, emotion, and actions relate to one another.

  • Emotional Regulation

These skills will help you change your relationship with your emotions - we will work on identifying and labeling emotions, decreasing the frequency of unwanted emotions, increasing emotional resiliency, and decreasing emotional suffering.

  • Interpersonal Effectiveness

This skill set aims to strengthen and maintain current relationships, nurture new healthy relationships, and end destructive or interfering relationships. Additionally, we will focus on how to recover from invalidation from others, how to get what we want from others, and more.

  • Distress Tolerance

Pain and stress are a part of life, however, we don’t have to suffer. This set of skills allows us to experience painful events and situations without making it worse. These skills allow our body to recalibrate so we can make informed decisions.
